Janet Petrell of Kingston Springs creates beautiful artwork from an unassuming medium – zippers.
The Farm Bureau member began her art as a 4-H project, where they were challenged to create something that had been recycled. Her mother was also a zipper artist. Fast-forward 36 years, and Petrell is still creating stunning works, under the name Zipperworks, using old and broken zippers.
“Zippers come in so many colors and materials,” she says. “I get them from my friends and patrons of my art.”
A proud member of the Foothills Art Guild in Knoxville and the Arts Council of Williamson County, Petrell has shown her art at the Williamson County Library, several craft shows and more. View galleries of her stunning artwork online at zipperworks.com or at facebook.com/zipperworks.
