Shooting Hunger Program Feeds Tennesseans
In 2015, key Farm Bureau leaders saw the obvious issue of food insecurity in Tennessee. They decided since agriculture is producing the food, we also have a responsibility to impact food insecurity – and Shooting Hunger was born.
Since then, Tennessee Farm Bureau, Farm Credit Mid-America and Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, along with many other agricultural organizations, have banded together to do something about the problem of hunger in Tennessee. Now with three events a year across the state, industry leaders hold Shooting Hunger events to raise funds specifically for hungry Tennessee children. Shooters of all levels come to spend the day shooting clays, supporting the cause, and enjoying the events of the day. After all events are finished for each year, donated funds are distributed among all 95 counties to distribute to local backpack programs and food banks.
