Can’t wait to hit that magic age when you turn 65 and join the other nearly 51 million Medicare enrollees in the country who have all their medical bills paid?
Well, not so fast. You can’t stop the aging process, but don’t get caught off guard by expecting Medicare to pay for everything … because it doesn’t.
As a matter of fact, most Medicare beneficiaries obtain some type of coverage to provide benefits beyond traditional Medicare. Medicare Supplement plans, such as those that more than 59,000 policyholders have through TRH Health Plans, help ‘fill in the gap’ by covering many of the deductibles, coinsurance and copayments that Medicare doesn’t pay.
A national survey in 2011 indicated more than 90 percent of all Medicare seniors with a Medicare Supplement plan would recommend a Supplement plan to a friend or relative. Many of them say what they appreciated most about their Supplement plan is that it helps them budget for unexpected medical costs.
The alphabet soup world of Medicare terminology – all those Parts A and B, D and so on – can be a bit mind-boggling. If you are nearing that age category or have another type of Medicare plan that you would like to compare to a Supplement plan, let us help. You can find us nearby. Come by any Farm Bureau office and ask to speak with a TRH representative, or call us toll-free at (877) 874-8323.
Remember, Medicare doesn’t pay for everything!
