Catch Up at Tennessee’s Summer Tomato Festivals
May 16, 2011By Blair Thomas
Tennessee loves her tomatoes, and towns across the state celebrate the summer fruit with tomato festivals.

The Lauderdale County Tomato Festival in Ripley honors area tomato growers July 12-13, 2013. The weekend’s events include tomato tasting, carnival rides, arts and crafts and live music.
Travel to the Grainger County Tomato Festival in Rutledge July 25-28, 2013, to enjoy work from local artists and craftsmen and a wide variety of tomatoes from local growers.
Highlighting the artistic side of the summer fruit is the Tomato Art Fest in East Nashville’s Five Points neighborhood. This annual festival is held on the second weekend in August (Saturday the 10th in 2013) and includes a tomato art show, the TomatOlympics and tomato jewelry making.
And don’t forget, Pettus Read makes a great tomato sandwich.
