As a young girl living in Indiana with my Tennessee parents – I was the lucky one to get to spend summers with my Grandma in White House, Tn. where I became a true transplant. Loved all of the delicious meals she made and especially the “Chow Chow” that went on almost everything.
I love to support the Tennessee farmers. I always try to buy locally.
I LOVE Chow-Chow!!!!
Had some when I was in Nashville last year!
Can I help you feature and sell your product out here in California!!
Nothing is more fun than shopping for our food at Tennessee Farmers’ Markets. When my children were small, I would have them each select a fruit or vegetable that they either didn’t know “what is was” or didn’t know “how it tasted.” We would purchase their selections, prepare, & taste. Needless to say, my adult children are fond of all fruits & vegetables, and amaze their friends with how they’ll “try anything!”
Very excited about this giveaway and have tweeted about it and already liked TN Home and Farm on Facebook. I really enjoy local products in and around Gibson County.

Tennessean thru and thru.
We love Tennessee Home & Farm magazine. We have been reading it for years. Information from it has been very helpful when we are on vacations.
I love Chow Chow, especially with pinto beans and fried potatoes! I can’t wait until the tomatoes get ripe and have a fresh tomato right out of the garden. When I was a child I would take a salt shaker to the tomato patch with me and just wipe the skin off and eat all I wanted right in the patch!
My husband and I love to pick local. We always pick fresh blueberries and strawberrys at Dennis Fox’s farm in Halls. We pick peaches at a farm in Corryton. (They have to be just right, soft and ready to eat. Which means I really have to go to work when I get them home.) Having grown up on a farm I cannot stand “bought apples”. I wait until they are ripe and pick them at a local farm. We grow our own vegetables so we can have fresh. I love everything about Tennessee!

My husband is from North Carolina so we enjoy sharing each of our state’s native foods. What would fall be without homemade vegetable soup and Mrs. Grissom’s pimento cheese sandwiches! Or Mayfield’s Banana Pudding ice cream with a tin of Christie’s Cookies on a hot summer day. What about crackers with Sweetwater Valley Farm’s smoked cheddar cheese. And Sally Lane’s peanut butter fudge! Clearly, from East to West, Tennesseans set a fine table!

A somewhat dreaded trip to your state for medical care, turned out to be one of my most enjoyable trips. The road trip my daughter & I took through your beautiful state allowed us to visit some wonderful farmers markets. We so enjoyed the shopping, oh the bargains we found. My daughter was thrilled with the honey & granola she found; but for me it was the baked goods, especially the bread. Passion & pride was clearly seen in these Tennessee communities. We are looking forward to our next visit. In the mean time, winning these would be like a part of Tennessee coming to see me.
There is nothing like going to the local farmer’s market and picking up some fresh squash for a casserole or driving down the highway in Henderson Co. to Anderson’s Market to pick up some fresh fruits and veggies or picking up some seed from Green Thumb Nursery and coming home and planting them in our rich Tennessee soil. In our kitchen, we have canned tomatoes, made salsa, plum jelly and freeze some strawberries for a little taste of summer to enjoy even in the winter with a fresh homemade cake drizzled with strawberries. Yum!
Either way we do it, there is a sense of pride and happiness to teaching our children that fresh is best. We’re proud to live in Tennessee and proud to keep Tennessee traditions and our family traditions alive by supporting our neighbors and strengthening our community.
