What began as a community Easter parade in Dresden in 1980 has turned into one of Tennessee’s best-loved small-town festivals. Every spring, Dresden hosts the highly anticipated Tennessee Iris Festival, a weeklong event that paints the town purple.
Now in its 44th year, the Tennessee Iris Festival takes place April 27-May 4, 2024. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony at Dresden City Park, and continues throughout the week with concerts, an iris and horticulture show, a music fest, a 5K race, and more. The festival culminates on the last day with the Tennessee Iris Festival Parade, which features around 100 colorful floats.
Can’t make it to Dresden this year? Check out the Iris Gardens at Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville or Primm Springs’ Iris City Gardens any time this spring.
do you sell the irises ?
We don’t sell the irises. This time of the year is not the right time to sell the bulbs.
I would like to drive to Dresden for the Iris/Horticulture show. What day will that event be held? Will there be any Iris for sale? Thank you.
The horticulture show will be Friday, May 5th. Public viewing will be from 1:00-4:00 pm. This time of year is not the right time to sell the bulbs. You might be able to make contact with those who place their irises in the show who might be willing to sell their bulbs in the fall.
When and where can you see the most irises in bloom?
