Smithville Business Recycling Barn Wood
Published Dec 01, 2007

One thing prevalent in the Tennessee countryside is rustic old barns, and, with them, old barn wood.

And there just may be a market for recycling these relics. It is the Trading Post, a family owned business on the Nashville Highway just outside of Smithville.

“Most of the barns around here are oak, so it makes good oak furniture,” says Dimple Blanchfield. The Blanchfields buy barn wood by the board foot and put it to use building furniture and installing finish work – like kitchen cabinets, vanities and trim – into homes.

Their Web site, www.barnwoodcreations.net, has examples of items for sale at the Trading Post. You can also contact the Blanchfields at (615) 597-2993.
