The Emancipation Proclamation plays a critical role in American history, and you can view the valuable manuscript during its stopover at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville – the only place in the Southeast on the historic document’s tour.

Signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the proclamation can only be exposed to light for 72 hours during its visit from Feb. 12-17, 2013. The display is part of the National Archives multimedia exhibit Discovering the Civil War, which opens on the same day but continues through Sept. 2.

Timed reservation tickets to view the Emancipation Proclamation cost $1. Purchase a reservation by clicking here.
